About MasterTechPrep

We are a small, independent team. We build a study tool for technicians preparing for ASE certification — nothing more, nothing less. Here is our story, in plain terms.

Who we are

MasterTechPrep is an independent study product. We are not the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, and we are not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by ASE. We do not sell, book or proctor your test: registration happens only through ASE's own channels at ase.com.

Why we exist

ASE certification is how a technician proves what they can do, and the ladder is long — eight Automobile tests to reach Master, plus G1, plus recertification every five years. The blueprint for all of it, the Task List, is published free by ASE. What has been missing is a way to work through that blueprint systematically and know how much of it you have actually covered.

So that is what we built: original questions written against each task, including Technician A / Technician B, with a study plan, spaced repetition on what you get wrong, and timed mocks driven by the current corpus edition. Shop floors have bad signal, so review queues and grades are stored per account for offline use.

How we try to be honest

The Task List is public and free: ASE publishes it themselves. You never need to pay anyone for access to it — not us, not anyone else. What you pay us for is the practice built on top of it.

We will also tell you when something else suits you better. ASE's own Renewal App is a real alternative for keeping some certifications current, and we say so on the pages where it matters rather than pretending it does not exist.

  • Every question is original and bound to a specific task — how we write and check them is on our methodology page.
  • Every document we work from is listed, with links, on our sources page.
  • One price, no subscription, and a self-serve refund if the pass guarantee applies.
